This is a selection of tracks produced during the period between 2001 and 2004. Originally they were not intended to be released, but rather seen as private experiments or ideas sketching. Emergent processes then led to this music being released on the ixi label.

The tracks were done in different locations mostly under precarious circumstances. Cheap equipment (sometimes borrowed) and home made software was used in the process of creating them.

This is an old project from 2000 when I studied the MA Design for Interactive Media at Middlesex University, London

Brief:
Construct a Small Object of Delight. The Object will be provided by a service provider and is aimed to be used while the user is awaiting download or connection.
By engaging users, it will help them forgive or even enjoy delays. In so doing, it it will enable the provider (and the user) to use slower (=cheaper) systems/connections.

A Python OpenGL 2D graphics library.

** Discontinued . I am currently working more with OpenFrameworks (C++) or Supercollider using the Pen class to draw to achieve similar results.**

Mirra is a 2D openGL python framework. It defines a set of classes to render primitive shapes. It focuses on interaction in a way like macromedia director or flash do. It runs using pygame(SDL) but it can also be used under wxPython. Mirra is also thought to
teach students programming in python by playing around with graphics.

Slicer allows you to create rhythms and textures from any sound you import by moving the Slicer nodes. Slicer will chop your sound into slices and superpose them. The slices will be created and manipulated acording to the position of the control nodes (the ones represented by a square). The slicer nodes (in color) control volume (vertical) and pan(horizontal) of each slice, while the control nodes control pitch, lenght, shift and starting point for all the slices

Presentation and one day workshop in Saint-Etiene Higher school of Art and Design (France). Hands on crash course on programming with Python. We will program applications that communicate over the network with OSC protocol, and also some basic graphics-audio-video manipulations. We will also learn how to get data from internet and use it in our programs.

This is just simple app developed in C++ (using http://www.openframeworks.cc). It allows to display videos, images and webcams in a window and control them via Open Sound Control. OSC messages can be sent from many programming languages (python, perl, java, ruby, PureData, Supercollider ... just choose one). It includes a PureData set of abstractions to control it. We had a one week workshop with students of the Mestrado Design Multimédia where they learned basics of PureData and building sensors. I developed a video server in C++ with OpenFrameworks (available at http://www.ixi-audio.net/content/body_backyard_osc.html) that can be controlled via OSC from PureData. The sensors where developed by Nuno Sousa and connected to PD via Arduino. PD would then receive the input from Arduino and send different control messages to the video server.
